When life gives you lemons, make cake!

Chocolate chocolate chocolate chocolate chocolate cookies.

So much chocolatey goodness is crammed into these cookies. Dark, milk, white, caramel, and cocoa.

And then there are walnuts.

They are so fudgey and decadent, crisp and chewy, buttery and soft.

I couldn’t eat just one, and neither could my friends.

Enjoy with Misty Mountains Jersey cream milk; the stuff with the cream floating on top.

Soooooo good. ^_^

Carrot Cake

Moist Carrot cake; Mama style.

This cake always reminds me of Autumn, with all of its dark orange carrot, caramelised sugars, zesty lemon frosting and aromatic spices.

I love baking this cake. Nothing smells better than all of those lovely toasty spices being warmed up in the oven.

Scoop up this cake with a spoon, bite in to all of those pecans, savour the zesty frosting, chew the sultanas. It is amazing with a strong cup of milky tea.

Intro

A little bit about me. I am Sunshine. I live in the sunny tropics in Australia, in a gorgeous little town that doesn’t really believe in Winter. I am a stay at home Mama to my gorgeous little Sugar Plum, born in Spring 2012. My other half is Mr Crumbs, who is my happy taste tester. We live in a lovely old Queenslander, by a river full of lillies. It is peaceful and quiet here, perfect for baking.

I have been baking since I was 6 years old. That all started with a fundraiser in the form of a bake sale held at my local Girl Guides unit. Most of the Mamas of the Girl Guides baked sweets for the bake sale, but at 6 years old, I had rather a lot of ambition. So, I baked a cake myself. I’ll never forget that chocolate cake, with it’s sweet barbie doll frosting, that started my passion for baking.

When asked what my passions are in life, the answer is always my family, my friends (who I consider to be a part of my family) & baking. For most of my life, I have worked as a chef, and I have baked for my friends. I have always been happiest when baking for my family.

I decided today, that with my love of baking, and being a stay at home Mama, that I should probably combine the two. So, here is my blog, to document the start of a happy new future.
